I'm a professional software engineer and freelance web developer. I learned to code in the heart of Silicon Valley and then worked for a startup in Seattle before coming back home to Chicago to scope out the tech scene here. I'm currently working as a software engineer in River North. In college, I worked as a laboratory research assistant in our neuroscience department. I've performed dozens of brain surgeries (on rats). I also took various writing classes to further my passion for creative writing, and was one of the only students to win the annual English Department Essay Prize without actually being an English major. My essays were nothing compared to the research papers I had to write for my major, however. Those research papers made me into the thorough, critical, and analytical writer and editor I am today.

I've had a lot of hobbies throughout my life. I'm a classically-trained pianist and a self-taught percussionist. In high school, I ran track and field as a pole vaulter and sprinter, and from high school into college I played the quads in the school drum lines. I've always loved music. These days, I've given in completely to my nerd side. I'm into all things tech, and I love learning new technologies. I also prioritize my health, running and lifting weights regularly. The best way to a healthy mind is a healthy body. I spent my four years of undergrad grooming myself for a life in science academia before ultimately switching tracks. I still find the fields of neuroscience, psychology, and biology to be supremely fascinating, and I love to read news about them.
