Experience
6 years of teaching and tutoring experience in Elementary and Middle School Math (3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th grades), Middle School Science and Elementary School Reading and Writing. I developed a passion for education throughout my time at Georgetown University in DC where I tutored regularly at various elementary schools across DC. When I graduated from college I joined Teach For America and spent three years teaching Math, Science, Reading and Writing in a middle school and then an elementary school in DC. I was awarded Rookie Teacher of the Year in my first year of teaching and was nominated for an Excellence in Teaching Award through Teach for America. Last school year my students had the highest math scores of any K-8 schools in DC with 92% of my students scoring proficient and advanced on state testing. When I moved to Chicago in July of 2016, I joined the school leadership team at a middle school and currently am serving as a school administrator. Next year, I am going back into the classroom to teach middle school Reading and Writing. I also worked part time as a nanny while I was at Georgetown so I can definitely do that as well in addition to tutoring.
