Experience
I am passionate about teaching, and connecting with students to create a supportive space to promote their development as writers, readers and thinkers. I have a PhD in English and Education from the University of Michigan, and I am currently working at the University of Chicago as a researcher. I have a total of nine years of experience teaching college-level English and writing courses (including 4 years teaching undergraduates at the University of Michigan), as well as ESL courses to students ranging in age from 3 to 65 years old. I received the David and Linda Moscow Prize for Excellence in Teaching Composition from the University of Michigan English Department. I also received a teaching award at the Adult ESL School (Groppe) in Mexico where I worked. I received a 720 on the SAT verbal section, and I am happy to work with students on SAT skills or college admissions prep. I have three years of experience teaching workshops on writing college admissions essays at the University of Michigan's Detroit Center. I am fluent in Spanish and can also offer tutoring services in Spanish. I lived in Spain and Mexico almost 2 years, as well as double majoring in Spanish Literature as an undergraduate. I can tutor students in high school or introductory college Spanish courses. I have experience tutoring a high school sophomore student from 2015 to 2016 for one year, helping her to raise her grade in Spanish from a D to a A-.

Hobbies
Not surprisingly, I am an avid reader! I really enjoy volunteering to give back to my community. I also try to spend as much time as I can outside when the weather is nice in Chicago, on walks to parks with my two boys aged four years and four months old. I practice yoga regularly, and I love to cook!
