I have a Master degree in Hispanic Studies since 2010 from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Specialized in Caribbean Literary Studies. I was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. With English as my second language, my personal perspective helps me to relate to what it means to be a learner of a foreign language. I am passionate about Spanish language and Hispanic culture. In my lessons, one of my purposes is to promote the presence of Latin-American and Latino cultures in all diversity of expressions that would further advance students’ intercultural understanding. My classes not only build students’ knowledge of the language but also they enhance students’ sensibility for other culture values and beliefs that in many cases are different from their own.
