Subject area focus: General and Organic Chemistry - all levels. Learning how to approach problem solving is the most efficient avenue to academic success. Chemistry is a problem solving science. My 7 years experience as a tutor in chemistry has taught me this and instructed my desire to be a professional teacher. This passion for teaching stems from a desire to improve student understanding of subjects generally regarded as difficult and ominous. I have taken all of the relevant courses and possess extensive experience as both an academic as well as experimental chemist. Professionally I am an accomplished synthetic organic chemist with almost 10 publications in the past 5 years. My ambition is to be in a tenure track position in the next several years so that I can continue my passion for teaching as a life-long career. My research interests encompass many aspects of synthetic chemistry, but are mainly concerned with the chemistry of naturally occurring compounds and how they can be used to improve our understanding of human biology and in medicine.
