Education
BFA, minor Art History, from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago
Experience
I graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's rigorous fine arts and art history program in just three years, the normal graduation time for which is four to five years. I have experience tutoring college level art history and writing. I was a TA for various architecture history classes while I was a student. While I am familiar with many periods in art history, my specialty is late 19th- early 20th c. design and architecture, including the work of Christopher Dresser, Louis Sullivan, and Frank Lloyd Wright. For art history I can tutor all levels up to the undergraduate level. Having written many upper level art history papers and taken a graduate level creative writing and research course, I am comfortable helping people in a variety of writing styles. My history, writing, and reading tutoring services are available up to the undergraduate level. During school I also did extensive research on fairy tales (and I'm not talking Mother Goose) and even wrote a few of my own. I can tutor anyone taking a fairy tale studies course. One summer in high school I was a spanish translator in Costa Rica for a family friend. I have also tutored my middle school nephew in Spanish and am currently taking an advanced Spanish course. In Spanish, I can tutor all lower and mid-level courses. In addition, I am very organized. I lead a busy life and have a solid system that keeps track of all my appointments and the many pieces of paper I handle. Since high school and after college I have been planning large and small arts events. Due to years of experience organizing my life and various events on a small budget, I am able to assist with small and large organizational tasks. Finally, I have a lot of food allergies and intolerances. While that might not be a basic school subject, I know more and more people are being diagnosed with food allergies every year. It's a big challenge, learning how to buy groceries, what foods to eat, and how to eat out safely. I have years of experience safely living well and eating great food on a restricted diet. Recently I began writing articles on food allergies for Examiner.com.
