Experience
I earned my undergraduate degrees in philosophy and English literature from Miami University and my graduate degree from DePaul University in English literature. As a student I took the study skills class twice in order to become certified as a tutor for the school. This experience was invaluable in providing me with the skills to address the most common issues students face regardless of the subject matter they are studying. During my time at De Paul I also had the opportunity to tutor extensively in local public schools. This gave me real world experience with a diverse student population that provided insights I continue to use today. I later went on to teach public speaking, creative writing, humanities, and English at Robert Morris College. I currently tutor students in reading, writing, essay editing, public speaking, English for high school and college students, creative writing, English grammar and syntax, and comparative literature. I understand just how unique each of my students is and I know how important it is to take the time to get to know them so that it is possible to create compelling and effective study plans for them that have been personalized specifically for their learning style and learning needs.
