Experience
I lived in an intentional, agricultural community for individuals with special needs called Community Homestead in Osceola, WI. My primary living responsibilities were the care and support of individuals, while also helping them accomplish tasks through daily work centered around: gardening, farming, woodwork, crafts, dairying, sugar bush, and more. My job required patience, understanding, and a desire to help reach a persons highest potential. Both of my parents are teachers, now retired. My mother was a middle school special education teacher while my father taught 6th grade general education of various subjects. I was a teacher aid for both of them while in high school, tutoring their students. I have a profound thirst for learning, and thus a thirst for teaching. The more I teach the more I also understand. I cherish the "light bulb going off" moments in students as well as myself.
