I am originally from New York City, and I went to high school at Bard High School Early College, in Manhattan, graduating simultaneously with a high school diploma and an AA degree. I am now studying for a BFA in writing at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, balancing my more traditional academic background with and much more creative environment. While I believe that people are so, so much more than their test scores, I received a 1460 on my combined reading and writing SAT, as well as an 800 on the English Literature SAT subject test. I taught music and songwriting to girls ages 8-18 for several years, and this past summer I taught creative writing to elementary school aged children.

Hobbies

Writing has been my passion since before I can remember. I love to experiment across genres, working with poetry, fiction and playwriting, as well as combinations of the three. I am an avid music fan, and I write music criticism for my school’s new publication, which is a fun way to exercise my critical thinking muscles with something I feel passionate about. Naturally, writing does not exist in a vacuum, and my school, with its heavy emphasis on art history, has opened my eyes to the connections being forged everyday across genres of art. My love of writing also stems from my start as a bookworm. I am always reading, (usually about five books at a time!) and my tastes are as eclectic as they come. I am a big believer in the fact that everyone can love reading, if they are given the right materials.
