Experience

I have done a lot of work with children, mostly kindergarten-8th graders. I was a mentor for 3 years through Big Brothers Big Sisters, worked as a camp counselor for an Art and Nature day camp at an ecology center in Maine for multiple summers, have babysitting and nanny experience, and am CPR certified. I am a good test taker myself. I achieved a 1990 on the SATs, and was in all honors and AP classes in high school. I graduated a year early from high school as a junior by taking extra english classes at Southern Maine Community College. For my senior year I traveled to Istanbul, Turkey, on exchange, sponsored by my local Rotary Club. I lived with two Turkish families while I was there and attended a school where I built my portfolio and applied to colleges. I like tutoring because beyond helping a student with an individual subject, you can help them develop healthy organizational and social patterns so they can help themselves. In addition to art classes, I have taken classes in art therapy, philosophy, psychology, and anthropology. I have done quite a bit of traveling, and learn from every person and every place that I go. I want to share the wisdom that I have learned so far, and help light the flame in others to have the same curiosity and thirst for knowledge that I cherish myself.
