Experience
The bulk of my teaching experience comes from the Viola Project, an all-girl Shakespeare performance workshop that I co-founded in 2004. As the Artistic Director of TVP, I set workshop seasons, crafted curriculum, and led classes ranging from five students to sixty, working with ages from six to sixteen. I worked in local high schools and grade schools, both public and private, ran summer camps out of City Lit Theatre, and taught a workshop in a halfway house for teens struggling with drug addictions. While in Austin, in addition to working towards my MFA, I've been teaching middle and high school students for Badgerdog, a creative writing camp run by the Austin Public Library and tutoring students privately in writing. My SATs and GREs are both above the 95th percentile. I recently completed a Michener Fellowship at UT Austin. (Michener Fellowships are three-year, fully funded writing and studying elements, generously funded by the estate of James Michener.) My full-length plays have been produced in Chicago, Austin, and New York, among other cities. My work has been published in many anthologies, including "The Best American Short Plays," and I've won many prizes for my playwriting, including the Kennedy Center ACTF TYA Prize.
