Experience
Since high school I have tutored students in subjects, including Algebra, Chemistry, Geometry, and Trigonometry. That was followed by four years of college-level tutoring in German, Music Theory, and Aural Skills. In addition, I was the co-teacher for a German 101 intensive course over a one-month period. I designed the course's lessons, and graded quizzes, tests, and homework. I believe I am great at tutoring due to the wide range of experience I have as a tutor in different subjects. I also use different teaching styles to help all levels of students become masters of the material. When tutoring German, for example, I tend to be very systematic. This provides my students with a strong foundation in grammar for them to build upon and strengthen with other concepts and skills. Living for a year in Germany also provided me with real-world experiences that I often introduce into a tutoring session. This helps to increase the desire in my students to learn more through the lens of knowing what's possible when they have a grasp of the language's basic framework and foundation. With a vocal performance background, I have also studied German Diction. I believe this makes me adept at working with pronunciation difficulties, or any hearing and sound difficulties students may have with umlauts!
