Experience

I strongly feel that it is my duty as an instructor to learn all I can about my students. I need to find out how they learn best and what makes sense to them. When I know that, I am able to individualize and customize my instruction to meet each student where they are academically, so they can be successful. One method I use to learn about my students is to collaborate with their parents and make sure they are part of the educational process. The involvement of the parents, tutors, teachers, and families helps me to understand more than just the child in the seat. I believe that it takes all of us working together to help students reach their full potential. My experience has been with elementary school students, and I am a very capable tutor in all language arts and math classes for grades one through eight.
