Private tutor in Chicago, IL
Harvard College - Artium Baccalaureus (A.B.), Social Studies
I am a great tutor because I focus on each student's learning style, which maximizes the material we can cover during our time together. Through my students' teachers and parents, I learn as much as I can about the way each individual takes in and digests information so I can create a teaching strategy which capitalizes on their strengths. I provide lots of patience, encouragement, and support to ensure my students are successful. I work hard and put a lot of thought into lesson planning and preparing for my tutoring sessions. I tutor many subjects, including test preparation (LSAT, SAT, and GRE), math, English, essay editing, geometry, US history, social studies, world history, and advanced placement subjects. I led a high school mentoring program that helped students to prepare for college. The mentoring program also provided homework help. In addition, I founded an after-school program, which is for middle and elementary school students. In this program, students received help with their homework. I created an independent curriculum and helped students with test prep and college applications. I worked for the Phillips-Brooks House Association, which provides adult education, mentoring, and many other community services. I love to learn and get to know new people!
