Experience

I have worked as a Learning Coach and Tutor for the past 6 years - working with Middle School and High School-aged students and specializing in math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry), writing and the ACT exam. I have worked most extensively with ACT tutoring - having completed training with two different organizations and worked with over 25 students and obtaining a 90% success rate in score improvement. Personally, I scored a 32 on the ACT - 33 English, 34 Math, 27 Reading, 34 Science. I enjoy tutoring because I believe every child has the potential to be academically successful and mentorship through tutoring proves to be a most successful course of action for many students. Successful tutoring is a matter of figuring out a student's learning style and then adapting the teaching style to fit that student's needs. I believe the positive impact of tutoring cannot happen until a trust-based connection is formed - that is of utmost importance in working with all my clients. From the beginning I like to set clear goals and expectations and establish open communication between myself, the student and the parents.
