Experience
Since graduating from college, I have held a flourishing private practice in academic tutoring in a broad range of subjects for students in grades three through college. Though several of my students have functioned fully in the setting of a traditional classroom, many of my students had been diagnosed with attention and executive functioning issues and/or had received academic therapy for language acquisition issues associated with dyslexia and dysgraphia. Although I am not trained as a Certified Academic Language Therapist, I have been very successful in bridging the gap my students have faced between remedial language therapy and success in the traditional classroom. My lesson plans are generally structured to accommodate homework help along with practice in vocabulary, mechanics of writing and grammar, and more. I provide skills training, modified to meet the needs of each student, in expository writing, textual analysis and annotation, time management and enhanced productivity, study techniques, and organization.
