Karen S.
Private tutor in Chicago, IL
Education
I graduated in 2014 from the College of Saint Benedict where I studied Biology and Spanish. I had a 3.58/4.00 GPA.
Experience
As an undergraduate I was a Teaching Assistant in the Biology department. I helped in the introductory lab portions of class, answering any questions that the students might have had about the experiment or the concepts behind it. I also worked at weekly tutoring sessions in which I would help students with their assignments and help them study for upcoming tests. I also tutored students (K-12) in after school programs in the St. Cloud area. I would help the students with whatever homework they might have had, and helped them to prepare for tests. I will soon be an AmeriCorps volunteer for Project YES! where I will help with programming in the classroom and tutoring students after school. I love tutoring so much because I myself love to learn! It is so rewarding when I can see students making connections and when I see the progress that they can make over and entire year.

Hobbies
I just finished a year of service with Franciscan Outreach. As a full-time volunteer I worked in a soup kitchen in Wicker Park where we served dinner every night of the year to about 120 people. I love to cook so I really enjoyed planning the meals and serving the guests. In high school was very big into sports and still very much enjoy playing and watching volleyball and basketball.
