I love teaching and look forward to sharing and promoting the fascination and wonder of the sciences with young minds everywhere, one student at a time, and have thoroughly enjoyed spending hundreds and hundreds of hours discussing science with both teens and adults through tutoring. Teaching is second nature to me, growing up in a family where both parents were high school teachers. My father taught Biology for 30 years, which helped fuel my passion and enthusiasm for the sciences and motivated my pathway to a B.S. in Biology from Purdue University. Rewardful teaching begins with a passion and energy for the subject matter. It requires detailed preparation, careful listening, patience, solid communication, and genuine care for the student’s success, in addition to a great command and understanding of the material. Vibrant visual aids and modern, real-world examples help keep students engaged and interested even when discussing challenging material. However, it’s key to tailor and adapt the teaching style to the strengths, weaknesses, and goals of each student and build their confidence--we work together. Spending a decade as an Illinois-Licensed Physician Assistant honed my teaching skills, especially in one-on-one settings. Patient education is an essential concern in the medical field. When patients enter clinics with diverse science backgrounds, it forces healthcare providers to create and develop alternative methods of teaching the same science topics to ensure that every patient who walks in has a good understanding and explanation of their condition.
