Hello! I’m new to Chicago (I moved from Boston) and excited to start tutoring students in grades PK-6. I have a professional teaching license in Massachusetts and over nine years of classroom teaching and private tutoring experience. Prior to my move, I managed a small tutoring business of my own during my nine years of classroom teaching. The majority of my clients were Korean families who wished to improve and increase their children’s English language acquisition, and prepare them for the rigorous standardized tests in Massachusetts. I also tutored upper elementary and middle school students who needed individualized instruction/support with mathematics, study skills, project organization, and written compositions. Over the summers, I worked with students across grade levels to review reading, writing, and math fundamentals before the start of the school year. My schedule is very flexible, but I don’t have a car, so close access to CTA bus or L stops is necessary. I am comfortable working with students at their house, a library, a café, etc. Classroom Teacher- 9 years of experience 2006-2010 - Grade Four 2010-2015- Grade One Tutor with 9 years of experience: - ELL instruction (primarily Korean students) - enrichment -MCAS test prep - math review and challenge -reading comprehension and phonics instruction -study skills and homework assistance
