Experience

I have tutored both formally and informally throughout my education, starting in high school and continuing through university and medical school (more informal setting). Medicine and medical school are great in the sense that they emphasize that students at all stages in their education always be teaching each other. Medicine (and science) are such broad areas that it is difficult to master these fields completely on your own. Group learning and teaching have been very beneficial and rewarding, and I am looking forward to pass that on to anyone who is interested! I took the ACT in high school (score 30) as well as the SAT subject test (2 science and 1 math). My junior year in college I took the MCAT (score 30Q) for which I studied for during a full credit load semester. I recently took the first exam in the USMLE physician licensing series (score 258, ~96th percentile). I am interested in tutoring because it allows me to talk about things that I am already interested, and to help someone while doing so! I've learned that teaching someone something that they can take with them and use to improve something in their life is extremely rewarding. I've also found that teaching topics helps me improve my understanding of the subject as well, so it's a win win! I majored in neuroscience in university, so I have taken a breadth of science classes at the college level (chem, physics, evolution, development, cell bio, genetics, etc). I also took as broad of a course load to expand my knowledge base and pursue a truly liberal education.
