Robert C.
Private tutor in Chicago, IL
Education
My master's degree (2009) and my bachelor's degree (2006) are both in mathematics.
Experience
STANDARD NERD. I am currently an assistant professor at a private university in downtown Chicago. I have tutored for many years throughout my undergraduate, graduate, and professional careers. I have worked with students of all backgrounds and skill levels. I primarily work with adults, but I would be happy to work with an enthusiastic child as well. I enjoy good conversations about mathematics, so it is my life's work to cultivate people's appreciation for the various mathematical subjects. The group discussions that we have in my classes are engaging and interesting, but I like to do one on one tutoring as well, as those conversations can go much deeper. I am chiefly interested in pure mathematical topics for their own sake, but I do have an appreciation for applications of mathematics in science, engineering, business and other settings as well. If you're curious, my ACT score in 1998 was a 32/36, which at the time put me in the 99th percentile. While most of my tutoring has been for purpose of improving classroom performance, I believe that my own success with standardized tests puts me in a strong position to help students in that regard as well.
