Experience
I taught in the Chicago Public Schools from 2011-2014 in classrooms ranging from K- Grade 5. I specialize in helping students who are below grade level in reading achieve grade level status. I can create lessons and interventions for students based on their individual needs in reading to bring them to grade level. Phonics, decoding strategies, comprehension, and higher order thinking skills are my strengths with teaching reading to children who are below grade level. Additionally, I made the choice to leave the classroom to help individual students achieve academic success. I felt that tutoring would allow me to work one-on-one with children to allow them the maximum amount of reading success.

Hobbies
I love reading, working with children, and I am invested in life-long learning. I have noticed that my strength is working one-on-one with children which is why I have decided to become a tutor instead of teaching in the classroom. I am continuing to complete my masters degree which my concentration is in reading. I have had a lot of success in my career with teaching children how to read, write, and language skills. Unfortunately, in most schools I've worked in, students can't receive the individualized attention they need due to large classroom sizes, lack of materials, budget cuts, etc. This is why I am making the move to tutor to help individual students achieve in reading.
