I obtained my bachelor of arts degree in Music and English from Covenant College. I went on to work in the Peace Corps as a volunteer, where I had the opportunity to travel to the Republic of Georgia. I had numerous duties there, one of which was to tutor students in middle and high school in the English language, writing, and also tutoring teachers in professional skills and computer literacy. When I finished serving in the Peace Corps, I attended Houghton College where I earned my masters in Music Composition. While there, I enjoyed tutoring undergrad students in music theory, and mentored teens in the area who were considered at risk. Now, I'm working on earning my bachelor of science degree in Computer Science at the University of the People, which is a global online education initiative. I love tutoring for a variety of classes, such as English and language arts, math, and study skills. I do get the most satisfaction from tutoring students of literature and writing, and helping students develop their own ability to learn. I individualize each student's set of lessons, taking into account their interests and strengths, which helps them be more interested on the lessons and accept ownership of their learning. In my spare time, I like writing, learning, and traveling.
