I believe that education should be based upon self-improvement and societal progress. My teaching philosophy is focused on allowing my students to express themselves and be creative while positively reinforcing their individuality along the way. Therefore, I am always trying to motivate my students and reward them when they do something well. Additionally, I allow my students to actively participate in their own learning by encouraging them to speak out about topics that they want to learn. Despite my emphasis on creativity, I am also very good at keeping to the curriculum. In the past, my teaching methods were proven effective when my class earned the highest state test scores out of our whole school. I have a BA in Elementary education from Northeastern Illinois University. My minor is in political science. I am working through the first year of my master's degree. My master's will allow me the title of reading/writing specialist. I currently teach reading and writing. My students encompass a range of all ages and skill levels. Though I am specialized in reading and writing, I am certified to teach any subject. I feel an immense sense of accomplishment when my students learn something new. My hobbies are yoga and travel.
