Experience

I'm studying at the University of Illinois - Chicago, pursuing a BS in Chemical Engineering. I've had the opportunity to do tutoring work in my fraternity while in college, both in chemistry and math. I'm able to tutor in various science and math topics, but my favorite topic is chemistry. I especially like chemistry because it is a very challenging course, and I feel fulfillment from solving such difficult problems. Also, through learning chemistry, I have discovered that even the most complex concepts can be understood easily once we break them down into its basic elements. This is how I view my tutoring, as well. When I tutor, I like to have students think out loud while they work through problems. Once they understand a particular concept, I have them work the problems on their own, explaining what they are doing along the way. By working together with my student, I am able to ascertain which concepts are difficult for them, and can adjust my methods to help them until they do understand. This type of collaborative relationship makes my system very effective. In my spare time, I like to play basketball, football, and numerous other intramural teams.
