Experiences; The first time that I taught a class was in the U.S. Army when I was an 18-year-old recruit. While in graduate school, I was an instructor in chemistry. I did a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland in the Department of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine. I was Professor of Chemistry in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois. I would like to be a tutor because I love teaching. The most interesting thing I did was to syn- thesize a congener of firefly luciferin while on sabbatical leave at Nagoya University in Japan. It had the property of emitting light just as the natural substance did.
