Experience
Having majored in secondary education and English at Omaha's Creighton University, I was able to return to my hometown and secure a teaching residency at AUSL in Chicago. This opportunity allowed me to go on to gain valuable instructional experience within the Chicago Public School system. Simultaneously, I worked toward a master's degree in urban education at National Louis University. That was followed up by a teaching position in academic writing at a charter school.Presently, I work with 145 high school juniors who need extra help with public speaking, math, literature, and essay editing. As it happens, English and grammar-related subjects have always been some of my favorites, and I provide tutoring in those subjects as well. In fact, I also help students get ready for big examinations such as the ACT's Writing and English sections. My experience with formative assessments and student data analysis have taught me to gear my lesson plans to my students' individual needs. I want to ensure that my pupils understand that learning can be fun and engaging. During my downtime, I enjoy romping with my dog, preparing meals at home, and playing soccer. I've done quite a bit of traveling to such locations as Switzerland, India, Mexico, England, and Germany. I'm planning to visit other exciting places in the future!
