Experience
I know firsthand just how important a good education can have on one's future: I was the first person in my family who graduated from college. When I tutor, I like to think that I am helping the students I work with to make the most of the same type of opportunity and succeed in accomplishing their own educational goals. I attend Northwestern University, where I am working toward a PhD in Environmental Engineering. I previously attended Howard University, where I received a B.S. and an M.S. in Biology. My greatest passion is for teaching Sciences, particularly Chemistry and Biology. However, I also like tutoring several other subjects, including Microbiology, Inorganic Chemistry, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra. I have taught Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in a Washington D.C. high school, and worked as a T.A. for lab courses in Environmental Chemistry. This varied experience has formed my philosophy of education; I believe the foundation must be problem solving and analysis. A good teacher or tutor must guide the student through the process of discovering his or her own solutions, building confidence that will allow him or her to succeed in any area by applying the same skills. Confidence serves as the cornerstone of success, during school and beyond. On my own time, I like to run, watch European soccer, attend concerts, read autobiographies, and attend family cookouts.
