I enjoy tutoring and I have spent time since I was an undergraduate working to develop my skills in this area. While studying for my bachelor's degree in English and Writing at Barnard College, I successfully tutored students of all levels. I also took a number of classes which helped to develop my knowledge of literature and academic writing.Because of this, I am fully prepared to teach English, Writing, and preparation for standardized tests requiring written skills. I can tutor students in the ISEE, PSAT, SAT, SSAT, and HSPT.I also believe it is important to develop a rapport with the students I tutor. Tutoring is more than just handing over knowledge - it also involves helping students to overcome any difficulties and confusion that may arise around the material. This is a skill I've worked on while tutoring third and fourth grade students in Detroit. I greatly enjoyed the experience and came away with a strong feeling that education is a right that needs to be supported through quality teaching and tutoring.My spare time is spent cooking, writing, exploring new places, and reading.
