Education
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - BA, Global Studies, Minor in Creative Writing
Experience
I attended UNC-Chapel Hill, where I gained a B.A. in Global Studies, and minored in Creative Writing. I also studied French extensively, and I participated in an immersive study abroad program in Montpellier, France. I studied literature and language at a language institute and also at a local university. My official tutoring career began while in France. I was a volunteer English teaching assistant at a local high school. I've also had experience helping students prepare and edit materials for college applications, thereby improving their writing and editing skills. I've also helped students with AP English and French coursework. I most enjoy tutoring French because I'm passionate about French language, culture, and literature. As a creative writer, I'm also highly adept at working with students on their writing, from academic essays to college entrance materials. The process of educating is most successful when teachers integrate personal life stories and interests into their teaching practice. As such, I like to find ways to relate to students during sessions, which helps them to take in and recall information. It's my responsibility as a teacher to remain open to a variety of learning patterns, and I can then develop techniques that respond to multiple subjects. For fun, I love to write, read, see live music, hang out with my family, and study French.
