I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. My focus was on pre-medical studies in preparation for a medical career. Although I am very strong in the sciences based on my baccalaureate concentration, my strengths intensified while studying for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). My tutoring experience consists of tutoring secondary school biology and college-level physiology classes. I am also adept at tutoring algebra 1, algebra 2, science, math, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, physics, microbiology, chemistry, and biology. I am excellent at helping students prepare for standardized exams such as graduate test prep, MCAT Verbal Reasoning, MCAT Physical Sciences, and MCAT Biological Sciences. As an educator, I am a fan of the Socratic method of teaching. I want my pupil to ferret out and discover the concepts for themselves. This is the key to truly learning a discipline. As a teacher, my objective is to listen to my pupil and communicate in a way that will make it easily understood. Along with academic tutoring, I also give basketball lessons. My experience as a Division III player in college qualifies me to teach this skill. When I have time away from tutoring, I love researching genealogy, working on my improvisation skills at Second City, and playing basketball.
