Experience
Hi, my name is Matthew. I recently moved to Chicago, Illinois. Before moving here, I spent two and a half years in Namibia, a country in Southern Africa. I served in the Peace Corps there, as a high school English and math teacher. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from George Washington University prior to joining the Peace Corps. While I was earning my degree, I tutored grade school students in reading and math. I am available to tutor in math, English, history, and test prep. My experience working with a diverse group of children allows me to give each child a learning experience that is both effective, and impactful. My tutoring style focuses on the needs of each individual student. Once I learn what each student needs from me, and how they learn, I create a lesson plan that suits their needs. It is my goal to help each student realize their potential, and help them achieve success. I think the one thing that most people lack is confidence. I strive to give my clients the confidence they need to reach their goals. Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing and watching basketball and reading.
