Private tutor in Chicago, IL
Carleton College - BA, Biology
I began tutoring as a volunteer three years ago at Onward Neighborhood House, where I helped students with their homework and aided their development in writing, reading, and mathematics. At the same time, I took classes to teach me how to explain math and science to others.I received my bachelor's degree in Biology at Carleton College, which is located in Northfield, Minnesota. As a student there, I worked on a project that identified biotic and abiotic influences on phosphorus limitation and connections between cycles in tropical forests, and ultimately graduated magna cum laude. I was also on the math team during my middle school and high school years, and then became interested in statistics during college, where I also took biostatistics classes online. My education has supplied me with numerous strategies that I believe I can pass on to students to help them be successful in the standard ACT, PSAT and SAT tests. I also tutor in many subjects, including Algebra through Precalculus and Statistics, Biology, Environmental Science, Reading, Writing, and Mathematics at all levels. In my free time, I enjoy swing dance, piano, folk singing, the theater, comedy, nature, writing, and doing puzzles.
