Experience
In my student-based tutoring practice, I focus on creating an open environment in which I am able to support and encourage my students as they work their way through difficult problems and tasks. As a tutor, I have a lot of patience, and I am able to sit with a student for as long as necessary to get them through each step or idea. I help them come to a true understanding of the material and view myself as a mentor as well as a tutor. I am dedicated to helping students succeed and flourish. I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley where I majored in Cognitive Science and minored in Education, due to my goals of tutoring. I have many years of formal tutoring experience, both at college and afterwards in the professional world. I have assisted high school students in the college preparatory process, tutored elementary students in literacy, and worked in computer-based teaching as well. I tutor Reading and English, but I especially like to work with math. I love tutoring subjects that show students how learning foundations leads to an exciting path of knowledge and exploration. In my free time, I love to play guitar, juggle, and bowl.
