Experience
My areas of tutoring are primarily math and science, including biology, physiology, anatomy, forensics, Earth science, environmental science, algebra, and physics. I tutor in topics such as algebra 1 and 2 and also help with study skills and organization. Being an engineer for 15 years has grounded my perspective in these areas. I have worked for GE, Zeon Chemicals, and Kawasaki in the fields of manufacturing and design as well as business development. In addition, I have more than 10 years of classroom teaching experience. I find it very rewarding to work with students and get their "light bulb to turn on." This keeps me coming back to teaching and engaging in one on one tutoring, an even more rewarding experience for the student. Working in a one to one session helps maintain their momentum. In my experience, I strongly believe helping someone overcome academic or personal roadblocks involves establishing a tutor-student relationship and rapport. It takes a mutual goal of establishing success along with a lot of practice. Now living in Chicago, Illinois, I attended the University of South Florida and Virginia Commonwealth University. In my spare time I enjoy photography, skiing, and drawing and also have a love for parrots.
