Experience
As a student at DePaul University, I was nominated by faculty of the English Department to tutor other DePaul students at the University Writing Center. As a law student and particularly as an attorney, my analytical thinking and writing skills have been sharpened even further. My experience as attorney also allows me to teach public speaking skills and speech writing to aspiring students. My style as an instructor is friendly, conversational, and inquisitive. Rather than forcing the student to abide by rigid and inflexible rules, I appreciate that every student, and thus every writer, is unique. There is a proper way to write clearly and intelligently, but the student will truly improve as a writer and critical thinker when he/she learns to express their "ideas" - and not just their words. When my students understand and trust their own "voice," their writing skills will continue to develop for the rest of their lives.
