My past personal and professional experience makes me a quality candidate for this position. I have worked for the Chicago Board of Education for over 20 years. My greatest strength is the ability to form meaningful relationships with students. My years working with children from various background and a variety of special needs, has allowed me to learn and practice different strategies. Providing positive attention in order to gain their confidence and build their self-esteem, to learning how to clarify social rules using tact. Patience and the ability to stay calm during frustrating and difficult moments has always been a strong point of mine. I am gifted in making strong connection with students, I feel I can relate with students easily and feel very comfortable listening to them and sharing my own experience. I am relatable, understanding, genuine, and open minded. • Working with students with Attention Deficit Disorder. • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. • Worked closely with students who are cognitively impulsive or have had psychosocial stressors, have been victims of child abuse, or have had environmental disruptions. • Position requires close attention to each student to create a behavior log folder. My years working with the Board of Education have allowed me to learn and practice different strategies for working with special needs children. Dear Recruiter, I am writing this synopsis of my life to give you a better insight on who I am. I began my work career at a very early age. My first job, after graduating from high school, was as a court reporter and after that I obtained a secretarial job. I worked four years for the Federal Executive Board Department of Health Education and Welfare as an Executive Secretary for the Office Manager. It was there that I utilized my secretarial skills in shorthand transcriptions, preparing educational reports, greeting visitors, arranging for staff manager meetings, and kept a file system concerning executive meetings. I graduated from Pivot Point Beauty College and began my career as a hair stylist. After graduation I worked as a Style Director for Luster’s Product, Elantee’AFAM Concept, and Soft Sheen Products. This position called for me to act as a consultant to clients and colleagues in product specifications and hair maintenance. As an instructor in sales, I demonstrated products knowledge to certified technicians in Beauty Schools. It was during this time that I became a Proprietor and open my Hair Salon and I am still in management on a part-time basis today. My many trips abroad have challenged me to develop an ability to work with different ethnic groups. My travels have taken me to Lagos, Benin, and Kaduna, Africa; while in India I traveled to Rajasthan, Jaipur and New Delhi; I have also traveled to Amsterdam and Cologne Germany. Each trip was designed to help strengthen the leadership of the local church in that particular nation and build relationship cross-culturally. As a member of these teams I’ve helped reach a goal of impacting people from other nations and provided a way to help them make a vital contribution to the local Christian community and others. Another shift in my career happened when I was offered a position for the Chicago Board of Education. Because I was a Foundation Teacher, and a Children Ministry Leader, a strong burden was developed in my heart for Children. The welfare of the children is a great foundation to build upon. My administrative duties have included disseminating information concerning continuing education, careers, vocations, and assisting students in properly completing various applications and financial aid forms, maintain student medical records, compiling, coding and organizing student records. Operate computer creating databases and utilizing other software applications. I know I would fit on your team as an advocate to implement purpose and change in the lives and education of our children. I am deeply interested in this position and feel strongly that I am the best candidate for this position. I have a genuine concern for others, and I seek out ways to help. I have learned to see past the exterior of others. I have the experience and know what it would take to be proactive in resolving problems that arise.
