Experience
I teach physics and math at Truman College. Personally I am a naturally curious person, always wanting to know more. I bring this attitude to my tutoring style along with a spirit of playfulness to solving problems. I have found these attitudes to foster creativity and a sense of practical applications in my students. As a teaching assistant at Stanford I gained experience grading, teaching labs, lecturing, and working with students. I took a course with a weekly discussion on interactive techniques for teaching physics. Our practicum included class observations, student teaching, and grading in current courses. As a researcher I worked on a variety of projects during my graduate studies. I worked at LCLS, the free electron laser recently constructed at SLAC National Laboratory in Menlo Park as well as a smaller lab on Stanford campus. I coauthored several scientific articles and funding proposals and am excited to use my writing experience to foster writing skills in my students. I used matlab and microcontrollers to automate data acquisition as well as to do data analysis and monitor systematics. I contributed to building custom vacuum chambers, maintaining homemade femtosecond lasers, and aligning optics. Additionally I participated in building a successful research program from scratch. I am excited to bring this experience to a tutoring environment. Below is a list of courses I have TA'ed for. Stanford University Graduate Teaching Associate Fall 2005 - 2013 Electricity and Optics (Physics 23) - 1 quarter Electricity and Magnetism (Physics 43) - 1 quarter Quantum Mechanics (Physics 130) – 1 quarter Intermediate Physics Laboratory 2: Experimental Techniques and Data Analysis (Physics 107) - 1 quarter San Francisco State University Grader Fall ’02 - Spring ‘04 General Physics with Calculus 1 (Physics 220) – 1 semester General Physics with Calculus 2 (Physics 230) – 1 semester General Physics with Calculus 3 (Physics 240) – 1 semester General Physics (Physics 111) – 1 semester Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics (Physics 370 ) – 1 semester
