I am a performance artist, and educator, currently working as a writing tutor at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the Writing Center. This is my second semester tutoring, and I love it so much that I would like to continue working as a tutor after I complete graduate school. This profile will (for the time being) serve as a way for my current students to to rate, or review me, and keep in touch with me after I leave SAIC in May 2014. I love tutoring because I find it deeply rewarding. Many students who come to me with writing they feel insecure about walk out of their session feeling a new sense of clarity, and excitement over having verbally articulated their ideas in a way that is intelligent, and creative, yet clear, and accessible. In addition to my interests in art education and performance, I am also interested in film, and all things food: from cooking, to vegetable gardens, to food justice. I care deeply about social justice, and the environment, and enjoy finding activities at the intersection of all of my interests. Last—but certainly not least—this english writing tutor is the proud mother of a middle schooler with one helluva vocabulary!
