Experience and Responsibilities Teaching Assistant Center for Talent Development June 24-August 3 2012 (Northwestern University) • Support students in developing their study and time management skills. • Assist instructors with all instruction-related tasks (leading small groups, grading assignments, set up and clean up of rooms, etc.) • Communicate with academic, residential, and administrative staff regarding student progress and problems. • Assist instructors with student evaluations by keeping notes on students’ performance on assignments and projects, comments during discussion, behavior, etc. • Assist students in class, as needed. Venue Coordinator Printer’s Row Lit Fest (Chicago Tribune) June 10th, 2012 • Coordinator for Hotel Blake in Chicago, IL. • Point of contact for authors and hosts. • In charge of programming rooms, preparing and making sure microphones are working properly. • Responsible for making the welcome/introduction announcements to large crowds of people for each author and program. • General event troubleshooting, handled many things at once. • Ticket Coordinators, Ticket Collectors, Author Escorts, and Signing and Selling Support Staff all reported to me. Program Creator/ Chicago Dramatists July 2011- Present Asst. Program Manager • Creator of “Playwrights Mentorship Program” which offers nine-month long mentorships to playwrights 18-26 years of age. Resident Playwrights of Chicago Dramatists act as mentors. • Helping to plan and manage the budget for the Program as well as assisting in obtaining funding. • As Assistant Program Manager I work hand in hand with the Program Manager in tasks such as progress reports on both mentors and mentees, funding distribution, marketing, hiring guest speakers and hosting a showcase displaying the mentee’s work to the theater community. • Supervising staff, outside contractors or other contributors to the overall function of the Playwrights Mentorship Program. Script Reader Steppenwolf Theatre August 2011- Present • I am one of 5 script readers for the Literary Department. I write plot summaries, complete evaluations, recommend material and discuss evaluated plays with Literary Manager Aaron Carter. • In charge of organization of scripts, converting master copies into a database (11+ month long project). Research for playwrights on commission. • Auditor of auditions: “Detroit”, “The Old Masters” “The North Plan” “Etiquette of Vigilance”. • Pre-production: organizing scripts, participant lists, running lines with actors. TEAMTeaching Artist Assistant Center for Community Arts Partnership October 2011-Present • I work with teachers and teaching artists in classrooms of students in 7th and 8th grade in the fields of Film, Photography, and Graphic Novels. • I aid Teaching Artist Erika Valenciana with keeping the students focused on creating storyboards, writing treatments, taking photos from a variety of angles, learning the aspects of stop-motion animation and live action film, and editing student films using the ipad, ipad2 and iMovie. Marketing Assistant UrbanTheater Company May 2011- December 2011 • I was individually requested by executive director, Ivan Vega, to work hand in hand with him in their marketing department. • My tasks include creating marketing strategies for UrbanTheater Company’s 6th season. • Reviewing and contributing to press releases before they are released. • Creating, establishing and running fundraising events. • Contribute my knowledge and experience in the social media fields. • Write and talk about the current play, playwright, and the actor's in the show. • Attend rehearsals and take pictures for marketing purposes. Artistic/Marketing Intern Chicago Dramatists March 2011-June 2011 • Works with Managing Director and Director of Development to create and cultivate public relations and marketing materials. • In charge of All Marketing Strategies for the Summer 2011 Classes. I delegated the specific projects to all other interns and made sure that all strategies were researched and followed out. • Contacted all previous instructors, patrons, theaters and possible new patrons to expand our summer class participation. This includes working with social media, specifically facebook and blogs. • Takes notes for playwrights after our weekly staged readings and helps the reading directors set up/take down. • Helps coordinate and assist Network and Resident Playwright events, and acts as a liaison to playwrights in the area. • Worked as a volunteer at their annual Blue Moon Ball (fundraising gala). Awards Special Recognition Columbia Greenie Awards April 2012 • I was awarded a Special Recognition Award in Playwrighting through the Columbia Greenie Association for “Honor”. NewStew Production Prize Columbia College April 2012 • My play “Honor” won the New Student/Transfer Production award and was produced in Columbia’s Classic Theater April 2nd-April 5th with 5 performances.
