Private tutor in Chicago, IL
Education
Senior Philosophy Major with a minor in Communication Studies. DePaul University.
Experience
Throughout highschool, I worked as a volunteer tutor for youth of elementary, middle and high school age. We covered a range of different subjects, depending on the students needs. I had the benefit of learning from tutors myself, in Calculus and SAT preparation- so I understand just how important it is to foster a mentoring relationship with the student in order to gain their trust and create excitement around learning. My experience tutoring was absolutely a rewarding and worthy use of time and effort. I had the pleasure of tutoring one student for about a year; she and her parents graciously saw the value in our relationship- and Sabrina was increasingly successful in school. I'd love the opportunity to help another student in this way. As a Philosophy major, I've come to place great importance on maintaining a positive student-teacher dialogue and relationship. I have a love of Ancient Greek philosophy, and an admiration for Plato, a great philosopher passing down knowledge and wisdom to his pupil, Aristotle. And while Aristotle learned from Plato, Plato learned as well- from the original thoughts of his student Aristotle. It's a beautiful thing, this teacher-student relationship. I hope to be a teacher myself!
