Private tutor in Chicago, IL
Education
I am a Neuroscientist who studies the development of the autonomic nervous system in premature infants. My full-time job is at a top ranked pediatric hospital in downtown Chicago. I earned my B.S. in Neuroscience at The Ohio State University. I defended my thesis in Neuropathology & Developmental Biology. I have authored several scientific manuscripts that are published in renowned, peer-reviewed journals.
Experience
I have helped high school, undergraduate and graduate students for over three years master biology. My "day job" relies on the everyday application of biologic and physiologic principles of the courses I support students in. My students are often excited by my ability to break down difficult concepts and tie in their coursework with real-life situations. Although I love research, I truly enjoy exposing others to the scientific learning process. When I work with students, my goal is to go beyond the exercises offered in their course to lead them in a direction to improve as an overall student. I have an open, judgement-free dialogue with my students to help them relax and focus on what really matters: learning. I specialize in AP Biology preparation and undergraduate-level neuroscience courses.

Hobbies
Everyone, regardless of age or career trajectory, are susceptible to "burnout" without a little fun here and there. I spend most of my free time escaping the indoors (Chicago weather permitting!) to go for hikes and enjoy nature. I'm a huge fan of traveling to experience new cultures and digging deep to find a new way to make an impact in the community.
