Private tutor in Chicago, IL
Beloit College - Bachelors, Education
I attended Beloit College in Wisconsin, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Education (Youth and Society) with a minor in Art History. I've had numerous experiences working with children from kindergarten through senior high school as a tutor. I spent a year with City Year Chicago, where I had the opportunity to tutor and mentor students in fifth grade in both math and reading for an entire year. This was a life-changing experience for me. I learned the number one thing to being a successful tutor, and that is the need to creative individual learning plans for each student, as no two students are the same. I take the time to get to know my students as individuals, including their strengths and interests, along with their challenges, which helps build a trusting relationship and gives me the information I need to create lesson plans designed specifically for each student. This way, I can help guide them most effectively and efficiently during our time together. I can tutor a number of subjects, including helping students prepare for standardized tests like the ACT, SAT, and PARCC, among others. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, spending time outside, and playing my ukulele.
