Experience
Being home schooled during middle and high school, I learned how important it is to be self-motivated. I also know that we all need to have someone there to give us an extra push when we need it. Because homeschooling allowed me to have a flexible schedule, I was able to also attend a college program. This was my first time in a public school and I quickly realized how much I loved tutoring. I was asked by a fellow peer during a math course to explain the complex concepts we had just learned. After our third tutoring session, she was able to get an eighty-eight percent on her math test. Later, she told me she had failed three prior exams and was about to quit the course. To this day, the greatest memory I have of that school was the high-five she gave me when she realized her exam score. I have always had pride in helping people and I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well. I do whatever it takes to help pupils understand the information. For instance, one particular Saturday, a student and I spent eight hours going over tough physic concepts. That session made us both swear off of the subject, however, the following Monday we were back to it. Dedication pays off, both as the student and as the tutor. I have been awarded the tutor of the year award and an award for a research project. However, the best reward I have been given is changing the grades of a fellow student for good. I look forward to helping you reach your academic goals.
