Experience
I have more than 15 years of experience teaching both high school students and college students. This includes working as a Latin professor and a humanities professor, specifically in history. I have a passion for history, and when teaching classrooms or tutoring individuals, I like to show students how they can connect their lives to the past. The subjects I'm available to tutor in reflect this, in that I can tutor students in Latin at all levels, history classes such as art history, European history, and world history, and social studies classes. I enjoy tutoring students, and being there when they have their "light bulb" moments, the ones where something comes clear for them that had previously been incomprehensible. Although I tutor students in languages and history, I believe it is important to be well rounded, and to do well in all subject areas, including STEM subjects. Through encouraging students in their strengths, I show them how they can transfer a strength in one area of study into another area of study. This leads to greater confidence, which leads to better learning. In my spare time, I enjoy training for and running marathons, hiking, and traveling.
