I went to Illinois Wesleyan University to earn my bachelor of arts degree in theater arts. My specialty was playwriting and performance. I've had several years of tutoring experience, including working formally as an ACT preparation instructor, and three years of tutoring students at the college level in writing. I've also taught fiction, poetry, music composition, performance, and other performing arts. While the majority of my studies have focused on liberal arts, I also really enjoy science. I have a strong understanding of biology, chemistry, psychology, sociology, and physics. I believe that the best path to helping students become successful is to teach them to learn how to learn. I also prioritize helping students understand the fundamental concepts of an idea and why they are important so that they can build up from there to fully understand the subject. I want to help my students become independent and self-sufficient learners, because I believe that leads to long-term success. In my spare time, I enjoy playing video games, theater arts, films, writing, and reading.
