Experience
I believe in lifelong learning, and have a strong background in math, language, and literature. I am qualified to tutor students in a variety of subjects, including many math topics from elementary math through to advanced college math subjects, English and literature, and I can tutor a number of AP subjects. I also have had success working with students as they prepare for standardized tests such as the SAT, LSAT, and GRE, among others. Because different students have different goals, I make it a point to find out first what that is for each student I tutor. That informs the techniques I will use and the types of study plans I will customize for each student. Most problems can be solved from more than one perspective, or by taking different routes, and I work with each student based on their strengths and abilities to help them find the best way to study for and take exams, as well as complete homework. By sharing various test-taking tips and tricks with my students, I instill in them the confidence that is key when heading in to take a test. I like to tutor through guided conversation, as that is likely to stick with a student better than rote memorization.
