Experience

Hi everyone! I have over 10 years of tutoring experience in physics, math, statistics, and chemistry, in addition to TA and lecture teaching experience. I am certified through the Princeton Review. I have received many positive reviews from people whom I have tutored and I hope to be able to help more students achieve their scholastic goals. My university academic background: I am currently a postdoc at UVA. I earned my PhD in physics at the University of Washington. I majored in physics at Brigham Young University-Provo with minors in math, chemistry, and music. I completed eight undergraduate and one graduate level biology course, and I completed the Honors program at BYU. For a time I considered going to medical school and received a MCAT score in the 95th percentile. My GRE and physics GRE scores were also high. I am a National Merit Scholar, I received an ARCS fellowship at UW, and I was awarded an NSF Graduate Fellowship. My high school academic background: I took eight AP tests while in high school: European Studies, Calculus BC, Statistics, English Language, U.S. History, Spanish Language, Computer Science AB, and Physics C. I received 4s (on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the best) on European Studies, Spanish, and Computer Science AB, and 5s on the rest of my tests. I auditioned into advanced orchestra on the violin for the last two years of high school. I was mentioned at my high school graduation as being reputed to help anyone with their questions about any subject. Tutoring experience: I tutored as a volunteer for high school and university students throughout all four years at BYU and loved it. I was able to help university students prep for the MCAT, GRE, and subject GRE (in physics). I worked as a physics TA at UW for three years. I also taught piano, violin, and basic music skills to beginning students while in high school, and now teach beginning to intermediate piano students.
