ESL Tutor - Tutored a couple from Russia one hour a day for 6 months; they later enrolled in an ESL program through an American university but told me once they completed the program that I was still the best instructor they had. Academic instructor for C2 Education - Assisted students with coursework in English and math, as well as helped them develop personalized curricula to improve their academic standing. Teaching assistant at the University of Iowa - Led discussion sections, created hand-outs, held office hours; received the Outstanding Teaching Assistant award for the Statistics department in 2002 I want to tutor because I have a passion for teaching, which includes a strong desire to inspire and motivate others. ESL tutoring has become a focus for me because of the creativity involved with the subject matter, as well as my aspiration to someday (soon I hope!!) teach ESL in Japan.
