Experience

I am a highly qualified and passionate math tutor. When I was at Iowa State, I gained experience in tutoring people of many ages and backgrounds. Through the university, I assisted college-level students in raising their grades ranging from Classical Physics to 3D Calculus. Furthermore, through universitytutor.com, I aided many clients seeking help in elementary and high school math. Finally, I placed in the top 10% in math for both the ACT and SAT and can help you with your math test prep. While I firmly believe in having sharp skills, I also recognize that empathy is what separates a good tutor from a great tutor. I will strive to understand where it is you are at with your experience in a course and the best ways that I can provide support. Empathy is the key for me in helping you succeed. Consequently, I will begin each session by asking you how are presently doing in your coursework, and what kinds of adjustments we can make together to meet your needs. Finally, being a responsible and ethical tutor is of central importance to me. While working with you, I will strive to start and end sessions promptly and come to sessions prepared to answer your questions. In addition, I will do my best to return all communications within 24 hours (I prefer email). Besides finding a convenient, quiet public location, such as a local library, in which to hold our sessions, I will also give one complimentary half-hour session to help us determine if we will be a good fit together.

Hobbies

I love to exercise. My favorite exercises include weight lifting and running - when I was in college, I completed two marathons! But those aren't the only things I do - I even tried Zumba with my wife recently. I stay involved in the community by participating in such organizations as Habitat for Humanity and Feed My Starving Children. My downtime includes your Average Joe type stuff: walking along sidewalks and listening to music, movie-going, watching a good comedy on Netflix, reading Kindle, and watching the NFL on TV.
